While we all love a children's tune now and again, it's nice to hear something both parents and children can actually rock to! I was luckily enough to be introduced to The Family Hootenanny, a compilation of original rock, pop and punk tunes, as well as a few retooled traditional songs for the young and old alike. The Family Hootenanny was put together by a group of Detroit musical artists who wanted to introduce their children to some great music.
The album highlights songs like the hilarious “Playpen,” which sings, “I wonder if my momma even loves me/ in the pen you don’t get nothin’ to eat,” and “Baby Duck”, which tells kids to avoid the dangerous streets full of careening SUV drivers on cell phones!
The Family Hootenanny CD has given my son and I something we can both enjoy while driving around town. With the fun and witty tunes, everyone is entertained! Buy online at pokeypup.com
Wee Extra: Win It! Happy Valentines Day! One winner will be chosen at random to receive a copy of The Family Hootenanny. Just email: contests@theweereview.com with "Family Hootenanny" in the subject line, and the answer to how many tracks are on the CD? Entries must be received by midnight (EST) February 17th.
